Stephen says that, as all children know, the way you get into a fantasy world is by accident…. You go into the wardrobe, looking for somewhere to hide and – bingo. And that’s how he found Discworld. Stephen and Terry Pratchett played together on Discworld for 25 years and had a lot of fun along the way. In 1990 he had written to ask Terry if he could stage Wyrd Sisters. He had no idea it would go any further than one play (possibly two). But it did. He staged Wyrd Sisters in 1991. That was the first time anyone, anywhere in the world, had dramatised Terry’s work. So far, he has adapted (and staged) twenty-two Pratchett plays. Most of these have now been published and they have been performed by amateur groups in more than 20 countries. Stephen has also recorded many unabridged Pratchett novels for various UK and US audio publishers. He’s won, and been nominated for, a number of industry awards. Despite those awards, regular listeners tell him it's easy to fall asleep while he's reading – not a good thing if you’re listening in the car.
